9.4 Showers, Toilets and Water Consumption

Although our British climate sometimes makes it seem unlikely, water is a precious commodity that we simply cannot afford to waste. Please follow some of the simple points below:

  • An ordinary shower uses only two fifths of the hot water needed for a bath so whenever possible please try and take a shower.
  • Do not leave the tap running while you are brushing your teeth.
  • Repair dripping taps – they waste a surprisingly large amount of water.
  • Keep a jug of water in the fridge instead of running the tap until it is cold.
  • All of the toilets have a dual flush WC with different levels of water usage. Please try and ensure that you use the low flush whenever possible to try and limit your overall water consumption.
